Fourteen artists, one challenge… Transform a car into a work of art!

Step into a world where art and engineering collide, and see cars as you’ve never seen them before in this incredible new exhibition. Cartists will bring together some of the best contemporary creativity in the UK for an exclusive and unique fusion of industrial design and artistic imagination.

Taking inspiration from the Art Car movement, Coventry Transport Museum is challenging graffiti artists, lighting designers, 3D artists, graphic designers and more to create an extraordinary display of bespoke vehicles and artworks using cars or their parts. Featuring work from a wide range of internationally recognised artists including Patrick Murphy, Christiaan Nagel, Dale vN Marshall, Cityzen Kane, Pahnl, Carrie Reichardt, Ben Slow, Emerald Faerie and more.

Fearsome Craftsmen: Discover The Artistry Of The Viking World

Making the perilous journey through the crashing waves of the North Sea, the bloody and brutal Viking invasions of Britain are legendary – but what did they do while they were here?

Making the perilous journey through the crashing waves of the North Sea, the bloody and brutal Viking invasions of Britain are legendary – but what did they do while they were here?

Step back in time and discover the 1,000 year old human innovations that built a vast empire and a flood of intercontinental migration spanning northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the coasts of Africa and even America.

Learn more about the people who settled in Britain from excavated skeletons, and explore the Norse myths and legends passed down through generations in our unique family friendly Viking settlement. See real examples of Viking crafts including intricate metalwork, and a replica 15ft

fishing boat, decorated with designs which reveal the true creative spirit of the Viking Age.

Half term lunt fort
Lunt Roman Festival 2017

Date: 15 July 2017 - 16 July 2017

Location: Lunt Roman Fort Coventry Rd, Baginton, Coventry CV8 3AJ

Time: 10:00 - 16:00

Travel back in time and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Roman Britain.

With cavalry, infantry, artillery and living history encampments, the Lunt will be bursting with life and activity.

Costumed interpreters will fill the fort with Roman infantry marching, an Iron Age camp, weaving demonstrations and birds of prey (Saturday only). Plus don’t miss the unique sight of horseback demonstrations and infantry fighting in the famous Gyrus.

Join us for a fun and interactive insight into the early history of Coventry, from the Iron Age to the end of the Roman occupancy all in a single day!

Participants include:

  • The Vicus (re-enactors: early Roman soldiers and Iron Age warriors)
  • Britannia – Roman Infantry with living history camp
  • Dumnonika – Iron Age warriors and civilians with living history camp
  • ARC – Duo of Roman Cavalry soldiers with living history camp
  • Falconry display (on Saturday only)
  • REME – modern soldiers
  • Textiles Through Time – Spinning and Weaving in the Granary
  • Coventry and District Archaeology Society display
  • Weavers' Workshop


Family activities include - try your hand at archery with Activity Club Coventry, make a clay pot, and join in with Iron Age and Roman children’s drill.

Refreshments will be available on site. There will be a special shuttle bus service connecting the Lunt to the city centre throughout the festival. There is free parking at the Lunt site and an overspill at the car park of Russell’s Nursery, only a 4 minute walk away.
