A touring exhibition from Jorvik Viking Centre, Fearsome Craftsmen is bringing the spirit of the Viking Age to the Midlands this summer. Step back in time at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, and discover the 1,000 year old human innovations that built a vast empire. Learn more about the people who settled in Britain from excavated skeletons, and see real examples of Viking crafts including intricate metalwork, and a replica 15ft fishing boat.

Kicking off the school holidays, the Viking Family day on Friday 28 July is jam packed with exciting activities for all ages. The biggest family day of the year, will include craft workshops, face painting, weaponry displays, warrior dance workshops and costumed performances by award-winning storytellers Annamation. Free to attend, don’t miss out on this Viking extravaganza!

Craft activities will be running throughout the summer, with a different Viking themed craft every day. Explore Norse myths and legends passed down through generations in our unique family friendly Viking settlement, and hear tales from Viking storytellers at various times throughout the summer.

0 - 4 year olds won’t miss out on the fun, with their very own Very Viking Voyage play space. In this unique exhibition, little ones are allowed to play and explore as their imaginations take them on a trip across the North Sea.
