Positive Images Festival

Coventry's Positive Images Festival begins this weekend, with a massive variety of events celebrating the people and cultures of the city.

The Festival runs for three weeks, offering visitors poetry readings, drama, music, literature, contemporary art exhibitions, food and more — and embracing diversity in all its forms.

It is the culmination of 12 months of hard work by the volunteers behind the Positive Images Festival, which is what makes it so unique.

This year is the 24 Positive Images Festival. It runs from 16 June to 7 July.

Tomorrow (16 June), there is a multicultural craft and food fair in Smithford Way from 10am-4pm.

It is a chance to browse 11 marquees with 22 stalls offering crafts, multicultural artefacts and food from around the world.

Tomorrow is also the official festival launch, with an entertainment programme beginning at 12noon.

The Festival will be launched at 1.15pm by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Linda Bigham, and Pru Porretta, Lady Godiva.

This year more than 100 organisations and communities will come together to provide a free three week Arts Festival in the city  and organisers are hoping to break last year's record when 17,000 people attended or took part.
